The warden gave us a "get out of jail free" card! Well at least until Labor Day Monday. Chelsea and I are so excited to be home. It was a really long drive but very worth it to be back home with Bryan and Eric.
Chelsea still has to be careful about being around a lot of people while her immune system is compromised but she was told to do "one fun thing" to report back on. I think she is going to do movie night with her friend Shelly and rent some DVDs. They will make some snack food - and there will be more snacking and talking than movie-watching but I know it will do her so much good to be around her friends again.
This visit home is really a very promising sign that she is recovering well. There has been no mention of when we can go home for good but we are just going to enjoy this long weekend!
Happy Holidays to all!

ReplyDeleteFrom a total stranger to you....I live in Pittsburgh and am so glad that you have been treated well at Children's. I came across your blog totally by "accident" today when looking up something, but in my head I kept thinking "Chelsea Interrupted," so I had to read this page when it came up. I am so touched by the love that each of you have for Chelsea, who seems like a spark plug in your family unit. My heart goes out to you all, especially Chelsea as she recovers and overcomes the challenges associated with transplant. I was especially touched by the blog entry from Chelsea's sister, Kelly. My own sister lives just outside of Raleigh (so I have made that drive before), and I teared up reading Kelly's list of great memories. My husband and I are Christians with three young boys. We live 10 miles north of downtown Pittsburgh, and I work for a law firm downtown. IF there is anything I can do or assist you with when you are here in Pittsburgh, please do not hesitate to call on me. In the meantime, I will keep you, Chelsea, and your family in my prayers!! ~Janie Burger janie.burger@bipc.com / 412.562.8813
